About the position

The Lead Nurse Practitioner/Wound Care Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional wound care to patients, leading a team of nurse practitioners, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards. This role involves collaboration with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes, as well as overseeing education and marketing initiatives related to wound care services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional wound care to patients, utilizing advanced skills and evidence-based practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for complex wound cases, ensuring comprehensive assessments and tailored treatment plans.
  • Lead and supervise a team of nurse practitioners, fostering a collaborative and patient-centric environment.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous standards for charting and documentation in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established protocols.
  • Act as a knowledge resource for wound care, providing ongoing education and training to nurse practitioners.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for staff, emphasizing the latest wound care advancements and protocols.
  • Spearhead marketing efforts for wound graft treatments, collaborating with the marketing team to create impactful campaigns.
  • Engage with referring physicians, healthcare facilities, and community outreach programs to promote wound care services.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) specialization preferred.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Illinois.
  • Certification as a Wound Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Proven leadership experience in wound care, with a track record of successful patient outcomes.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience in internal medicine or family practice; an accredited wound care certification such as WOCN is ideal but not required.
