About the position

The Lead Nurse plays a critical role in overseeing nursing care and functions within the clinic, collaborating closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager and Regional Director of Nursing. This position involves coordinating unit activities, directing nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing patient education. The Lead Nurse is responsible for staffing, training, and maintaining a high-quality work environment, while also supporting clinical trials and managing pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Manager and Regional Director of Nursing to plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Coordinate activities of the unit and assign work to nurses and pharmacy technicians.
  • Assess, monitor, and educate nursing staff on patient care.
  • Institute emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with job breakdown instructions and regulations.
  • Prepare schedules for clinic's nurses and pharmacy technicians.
  • Plan orientation for new nurses and pharmacy technicians and assess their skills.
  • Complete incident reports and adverse event reports.
  • Coordinate patient education prior to new medication initiation.
  • Act as a resource for staff regarding policies and procedures.
  • Support clinical trials and communicate with Research Coordinator.
  • Maintain PAR levels for medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient and employee information.
  • Provide daily direction and communication to employees.
  • Create and maintain a high-quality work environment for team members.
  • Provide performance feedback and coaching to nursing staff.
  • Interview job applicants and provide feedback.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered RN License in the state of employment or multi-state licensure.
  • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in nursing is required.
  • Certification of OCN required within two years of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid state Driver's License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings.
  • At least two years of experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in time management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
