About the position

The Lead Office Assistant at Memorial Hermann Health System is responsible for managing administrative functions within a department or general office. This role involves performing complex and diversified administrative duties, ensuring efficient operations while prioritizing safety, compassion, and quality service for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a primary function for a department or general office.
  • Orient and train employees regarding system and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Direct and review the work of lower-level office clerks.
  • Develop and produce reports, letters, memoranda, minutes, and other departmental correspondence.
  • Maintain and update files for the area of responsibility.
  • Identify and respond to problems with appropriate action and follow-up.
  • Review departmental processes to seek improvement.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all policies and standards.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting education and skills competency requirements.
  • Support department-based goals contributing to the organization's success.
  • Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Model service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least eight (8) years of current clerical experience.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Supervisory skills and ability to manage a function.
  • Ability to perform complex and diverse administrative duties involving independent analysis and interpretation of data.
