About the position

As a Lead Operations Coordinator at Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB), you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of an assigned department within our manufacturing facility. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Supervisor in ensuring a smooth workflow, which includes disbursing schedules and coordinating the materials set-up for production. You will be actively involved in monitoring inventory levels, conducting material inspections, and performing quality audits on work-in-progress (WIP) and finished items. Your attention to detail will be essential as you troubleshoot issues with department associates to maintain an efficient production flow. In this role, you will also be responsible for assisting with on-the-job training for both new and current associates, ensuring they are well-versed in the latest procedures. You will provide support to operators in basic repair and maintenance of equipment, and you will notify the Supervisor of any equipment needs or concerns. Safety is a top priority at SSB, and you will be expected to perform all duties according to established safety and efficiency procedures while maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Your ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments between competing priorities will be key to your success in this position. Responsibilities

  • Assists the Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of an assigned department.
  • Disburses schedules and ensures a smooth workflow through the department.
  • Provides direction and troubleshoots with department associates as needed to ensure a smooth production flow.
  • Coordinates the department materials set-up working off the schedule, controlling the workflow to operators.
  • Conducts material inspections and quality audits on sewn items, coordinating and/or handling repairs as needed.
  • Monitors inventory levels and brings materials to the department from storage areas as needed.
  • Assists with on-the-job training for associates newly assigned to the department as well as with current associates regarding any new procedures.
  • Assists the operators in the basic repair and maintenance of equipment, notifying the Supervisor of any equipment needs or concerns.
  • Performs all duties according to established safety and efficiency procedures and champions a safety culture.
  • Maintains work area in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Basic ability to read and write English.
  • Prior experience working within the manufacturing environment.
