About the position

The Lead Operations Research Analyst serves as the experimentation team leader within the Department of Defense, specifically at Redstone Arsenal, AL. This role is pivotal in developing the annual experimentation learning objectives through comprehensive operational analysis. The incumbent will manage, guide, and structure experimentation, as well as test and evaluation activities for the Cross-Functional Team (CFT). This includes developing and briefing operational scenarios that underpin the experimentation plan, as well as managing the test and data collection processes. The Lead Operations Research Analyst will assign work to team members based on priorities aligned with the CFT's five-year plan and will review the work of team members to ensure technical quality. In addition to these responsibilities, the Lead Operations Research Analyst will provide on-the-job training, recommend training courses and development opportunities, and contribute to performance evaluations. This position requires a strong background in operations research, analytical studies, and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams effectively. The role is essential for ensuring that experimentation efforts align with the strategic objectives of the Department of Defense and that results are delivered within specified timelines to meet senior leader decision requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual experimentation learning objectives through operational analysis.
  • Manage and structure experimentation and test evaluation activities for the CFT.
  • Develop and brief operational scenarios for the experimentation plan.
  • Manage test and data collection processes.
  • Assign work to team members based on priorities and the CFT 5-year plan.
  • Review team members' work for technical quality.
  • Provide on-the-job training and recommend training courses.
  • Provide input to performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations research or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, or related subjects, including 3 hours in calculus.
  • One year of specialized experience in developing and leading experimentation of warfighting capability.
  • Experience in leading and executing analytical studies.
  • Experience with modeling and simulations within Army & DoD operational effectiveness analysis.
  • Ability to direct and lead multi-disciplinary teams, providing clear vision and guidance.
