About the position

The Lead Opto-Mechanical Engineer V at Applied Materials is responsible for driving the development of high-performance opto-mechanical subsystems for new tool platforms. This role involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to innovate and implement advanced technologies in the semiconductor industry, contributing to the design, development, and integration of complex engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement opto-mechanical concepts for high-performance imaging and illumination optics.
• Participate in all aspects of the design cycle including specification development, design, supplier support, part verification, and integration.
• Lead and execute engineering projects and spearhead research and development of new technologies.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex engineering problems.
• Perform complex engineering analysis and specify engineering documentation.
• Interface with customers to address complex engineering issues and generate product specifications.
• Define, coordinate, perform, and document engineering tests.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in opto-mechanical and precision mechanical design.
• Proficient in opto-mechanical design and familiar with high precision optical design implementations.
• Experienced with specification derivations, tolerancing design, alignment, and compensation.
• Familiar with thermal and dynamic stability, metrology, and 3D CAD software such as Solidworks or Inventor.
• Experience with FEA for static and dynamic structural and thermal analyses.
