About the position

The Lead Painter (Crew Leader) position at MDF Painting & Power Washing is designed for experienced painters who are looking to lead a team in delivering high-quality residential painting services. This role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and a positive work environment, where painters are valued and recognized for their contributions. The Lead Painter will manage job sites, oversee crew activities, and ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining high standards of service.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-work meetings with the client and direct supervisor.
  • Actively plan work using the Employment Planning Form.
  • Conduct daily team meetings and check the work of the crew.
  • Perform daily check-ins on the job site and post updates on the BAND.
  • Lead by example and teach other painters through 'Know, Show, Do, Review'.
  • Execute all daily painting activities from start to finish, including interior/exterior surface painting using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
  • Remove old paint to prepare surfaces before painting.
  • Apply protective coverings, such as drop cloths or tape, to items or areas that could be damaged or stained during work processes.
  • Fill cracks or breaks in wooden/composite/drywall surfaces with putty or epoxy compounds.
  • Pressure wash all exterior surfaces.
  • Clean work areas and equipment.
  • Work extensively on ladders.
  • Communicate with clients in English and with the painting team in both English and Spanish.
  • Conduct post-work meetings and final tutorials with clients.
  • Maintain high customer service standards with A ratings on scorecards and positive testimonials.
  • Lead and teach in weekly training sessions.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in residential painting (recommended more than 2 years).
  • Ability to prioritize and focus on the current task.
  • Excellent preparation and painting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in all aspects of painting and pressure washing.
  • Experience in carpentry preferred but not required.
  • Must be bilingual in English/Spanish.
