The Lead Pharmacy Technician at Shasta Regional Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy department under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of pharmacy activities that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. The Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for a variety of technical duties, including maintaining patient records, setting up, packaging, and labeling medication doses, and filling and dispensing routine orders for stock supplies in patient care areas. Additionally, the technician will maintain inventories of drug supplies and mix drugs with parenteral fluids as needed. In this role, the Lead Pharmacy Technician will also be involved in physician order entry, scheduling and supervising pharmacy technicians, and overseeing the use of automated drug delivery equipment such as Pyxis. The position requires maintaining quality assurance programs and generally overseeing the performance of pharmacy technicians. The scope of care provided by the pharmacy department includes a wide range of services such as General Medicine/Surgical, Intensive Care Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Transitional Care, Geriatrics, and Outpatient Services.
