About the position

The Lead Platform Engineer (Network, WIFI) at Capital One is responsible for designing, building, and testing new WiFi deployments and network upgrades. This role involves collaborating with various teams to create technical design documents, assess security compliance, and provide support to the wireless network operations team. The position is pivotal in driving technological transformation within the company, utilizing a range of programming languages and tools to enhance enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, build, and test activities related to new WiFi deployments and network upgrades.
• Create technical design documents and implementation plans.
• Work with the security organization to assess exposure and identify mitigation plans.
• Provide escalation/on-call support to the wireless network operations team.
• Provide input to enterprise network design standards and maintain documentation.
• Stay updated on tech trends and mentor other members of the engineering community.
• Utilize programming languages and container orchestration services.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
• At least 6 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory).
• At least 4 years of experience with AWS.
• At least 2 years of team leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Deep understanding of WLAN technologies and network management.
• Experience implementing high-density WiFi solutions.
• Fundamental knowledge of security protocols and authentication.
• 3+ years of DevOps Engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience with coding and scripting in various languages.
• 2+ years of experience working within Agile Development Practices.
