About the position

As a Lead Platform Engineer at Capital One, you will be instrumental in driving technological transformation within the Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) team. This role involves designing, building, and testing new WiFi deployments and network upgrades while ensuring compliance with security standards. You will collaborate with various teams to create technical documentation and provide support for wireless network operations, all while staying updated on tech trends and mentoring fellow engineers.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, build, and test activities related to new WiFi deployments and network upgrades.
• Create technical design documents and implementation plans.
• Work with the security organization to assess exposure and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Provide escalation/oncall support to the wireless network operations team.
• Provide input to enterprise network design standards and maintain documentation.
• Stay updated on tech trends and participate in technology communities.
• Mentor other members of the engineering community.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
• At least 6 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory).
• At least 4 years of experience with AWS.
• At least 2 years of team leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Deep understanding of WLAN technologies and network management.
• Experience implementing high-density WiFi solutions.
• Fundamental knowledge of security protocols and authentication (WPA2, EAP-TLS, 802.1x, AAA).
• 3+ years of DevOps Engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience with coding and scripting (Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl, or Ruby).
• 2+ years of experience deploying clustered web services.
• 2+ years experience working within Agile Development Practices.
