About the position

The Lead Platform Engineer in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at Capital One is responsible for driving the transformation of technology solutions within the organization. This role involves collaborating with product owners to understand application capabilities, continuously improving software engineering practices, and leading the design and implementation of technical solutions across various development tools and technologies. The engineer will also mentor team members, encourage innovation, and stay updated on tech trends while utilizing a range of scripting languages and AWS tools.

Responsibilities

• Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of solutions
• Mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation and implementation of cutting-edge technologies
• Utilize scripting languages and container orchestration services

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
• At least 6 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)
• At least 4 years of experience with AWS
• At least 2 years of team leadership experience

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience with AWS
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
• 5+ years of Site Reliability Engineering experience
• 5+ years of experience on improving observability, performance efficiency and resilience of applications
• 5+ years of experience in building architecture and design of new and current systems
