The Lead Police Officer (Desk Sergeant/Patrol Sergeant) position within the U.S. Marine Corps involves supervising patrol shifts and providing law enforcement services. The role includes training and guiding police officers, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and maintaining the overall security of assigned areas. This position requires a strong understanding of law enforcement operations and the ability to manage and direct police activities effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supervise patrol shifts and assist the Watch Commander in law enforcement duties.
• Instruct Field Training Officers and police officers in specific tasks and techniques.
• Provide technical advice and guidance on law enforcement practices.
• Inspect physical security of areas and recommend corrective actions for deficiencies.
• Distribute and balance workloads among officers to ensure completion of tasks by shift end.
• Assist in planning and directing watch activities, including preparing reports and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with communication policies and procedures.
• Monitor calls and dispatch appropriate police vehicles to incidents.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a National Agency Check and local background check.
• Must meet medical standards for police officers and maintain uniform appearance standards.
• Must possess a valid driver license and maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Must be at least 18 years of age prior to start of employment.
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
