About the position

The Senior PostgreSQL Engineer will play a crucial role in architecting, developing, and managing PostgreSQL database systems for a leading SaaS platform focused on behavioral health practice management. This position requires extensive experience with PostgreSQL databases, both on-premise and in the cloud, and a strong ability to thrive in a collaborative DevOps environment. The role emphasizes optimizing database performance, ensuring compliance with security standards, and implementing innovative database technologies.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and manage PostgreSQL database systems for our always-on SaaS platform
• Optimize database design for maximum availability, scalability, and reliability
• Perform database performance tuning and capacity planning
• Guide developers on best practices for database design, query optimization, and indexing strategies
• Provide support for development and testing, including data setup and automated testing processes
• Research and implement cutting-edge database technologies and practices
• Establish and enforce data operations, security, and management policies
• Ensure database operations comply with HIPAA security standards
• Offer on-call support for production systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
• Over 7 years of experience in relational database management
• Minimum of 3 years managing high-availability PostgreSQL databases
• Expertise in RDBMS principles, database architecture, and normalization
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, features, and high-availability solutions
• Skilled in query optimization, indexing, and partitioning
• Proficiency in PL/PgSQL, triggers, and stored procedure development
• Experience with PostgreSQL in a Linux environment

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions
• Experience with .NET clients using PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
