About the position

The Lead Power Electronics Engineer - Hardware Design is responsible for designing innovative power supply products for various applications including supercomputing, industrial, telecommunications, and datacenter environments. This role involves leading the product development process from concept to high-volume production, ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical infrastructures. The engineer will work on new product introductions, resolve customer issues, and sustain existing products while demonstrating global leadership in the R&D/Technology team.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer requirements and select appropriate topologies for AC/DC and DC/DC applications
  • Conduct design analysis including modeling, simulation, and control loops
  • Optimize designs focusing on efficiency, density, and cost
  • Design and optimize magnetics
  • Create schematics, bills of materials, and PCB layouts
  • Develop high-density PCB layouts with noise and EMI mitigation
  • Conduct design reviews and follow the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
  • Perform hands-on lab work to build and debug prototypes
  • Conduct electrical characterization, design validation, and qualification
  • Introduce products into high-volume production
  • Provide technical support for production and field product issues
  • Lead projects and collaborate in cross-functional teams
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect intellectual property
  • Mentor junior engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering design experience
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics preferred
  • Experience with new product definition designing AC/DC power supplies, test and analysis tools, and systems
  • Experience with SiC and GaN devices-based power converter design
  • High frequency magnetics design knowledge
  • Strong circuit simulation experience (PLECS/ PSPICE/ SIMPLIS/ SIMetrix)
  • Hands-on experience related to EMC of switch mode power supplies
  • Knowledge of IPC 9592B - Requirements for Power Conversion Devices for the Computer and Telecommunications Industries
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, strong team player
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to drive projects to completion
