About the position

The Lead Power Systems Engineer will function as a senior engineer responsible for energy optimization, power system coordination, and electrical reliability analysis. This role involves construction inspection, coordination with local utilities, and acting as a liaison between design teams. The engineer will also lead electrical design for water/wastewater projects and provide technical guidance to engineering staff, ensuring compliance with client standards and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a Lead or Senior Engineer in energy optimization and power system coordination.
  • Conduct arc flash hazard analysis and electrical reliability analysis.
  • Inspect construction and resolve electrical construction issues.
  • Coordinate with local electrical utilities on project technical needs.
  • Review supplier submittals and act as a liaison between design teams.
  • Oversee startup and testing of major electrical equipment.
  • Lead electrical design for water/wastewater projects.
  • Provide technical guidance on client standards to engineering staff.
  • Support business development related to enhanced electrical services.
  • Build business relationships with clients to understand their needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience in electrical design, planning, and construction services.
  • Professional Engineer's license preferred.
  • Experience in medium and low voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Understanding of PLC hardware and software setup, network configuration, HMI, SCADA system, and instrumentation.
  • Experience in a client-facing/business development role.
  • Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Consulting and Water/Wastewater experience preferred.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives and standby diesel generators.
