About the position

The Lead Children's House Guide at Guidepost Montessori School is responsible for empowering preschool-aged children (3 to 6 years old) to develop independence, self-confidence, and a love for learning in a Montessori environment. This role involves preparing a supportive and engaging classroom environment, providing personalized guidance to each child, and fostering a community of respect and collaboration with parents.

Responsibilities

  • Observe each child closely to understand and meet their physical, intellectual, and emotional needs.
  • Prepare a beautiful, orderly environment that fosters concentration, independence, and deep learning.
  • Cultivate independence and self-confidence by helping children ‘do it all by themselves'.
  • Provide individual and small-group lessons to support each child's development in practical skills, literacy, math, and more.
  • Form personal connections with each child and cultivate a community of respect.
  • Communicate and collaborate respectfully with parents to provide the best possible support for every child.

Requirements

  • Obtained or willing to obtain a Montessori diploma for 3-6.
  • Experience working with children ages 3-6 in a group setting such as daycare, aftercare, or preschool.
  • Familiarity with child-led philosophies such as Reggio Emilia or Montessori and/or open to learning more!
  • At least 30 college units and 6 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Earned a Child Development Associate's or Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
