About the position

The Lead Principal Technical Program Manager for Foundations at Atlassian is a senior individual contributor role responsible for overseeing critical company-wide initiatives across foundational technical areas such as Compute, Network, Data Platform, Identity, Security, and Reliability. This position requires innovative thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills to influence and make significant technical decisions while working with world-class engineering teams. The role also involves shaping the Technical Program Management (TPM) craft within the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs, and driving the execution of a long-term strategy and roadmap for the Foundations area.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the current state of Foundations, business objectives, customer needs, and industry trends to define a long-term strategy and roadmap.
  • Translate strategy and platform/product requirements into technical requirements and solutions in collaboration with partner teams and engineering counterparts.
  • Streamline the execution of the articulated roadmap and promote the adoption of the platform and tools across Atlassian.
  • Proactively identify inhibitors, issues, or opportunities within your platforms and products, addressing them or finding the right owners to do so.
  • Drive complex, cross-divisional projects and initiatives, managing dependencies and projects with a broad scope across the company.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience on software teams as a Technical Program Manager, Engineer, Engineering Manager, or Product Manager.
  • Experience analyzing business priorities, customer needs, and industry trends to articulate a long-term roadmap.
  • Ability to translate customer and product requirements into technical requirements.
  • Influence architecture or technical design leveraging subject matter expertise and technical depth.
  • Experience driving projects spanning multiple organizations, including negotiating and reaching agreements with partners and stakeholders.
