About the position

As the Lead Product Designer at Travefy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping an industry-leading product that is both trusted and loved by our users, specifically Travel Advisors. Your primary responsibility will be to build a design function from the ground up, including hiring your first team member, as you join a growing company where design is considered a strategic advantage. Travefy is an online platform dedicated to creating magical travel experiences, and you will be at the forefront of enhancing this platform for our users. Travel Advisors utilize Travefy to transform the travel planning process from the initial idea to the return from the trip. They rely on our platform to research destinations, collaborate with clients, and create visually stunning itineraries. With over 30,000 travel brands using our services daily, we have established ourselves as the leading platform for Travel Advisors in the US, known for our simplicity and visual appeal. In this role, you will have the opportunity to grow your team from day one, as we have openings for two designers. You will lead product design for Travefy, continuing to elevate our established product while building out a design system and strengthening the connection to our brand and messaging. As part of a small, hands-on team, you will work closely with engineers to lead solution discovery, design, and contribute to the development of Travefy. You will own your workstream, allowing for autonomy and self-organization within a light process framework. Collaboration with the Marketing team will be essential to ensure cohesive branding and messaging across all campaigns and product releases. This position is available for hybrid work from our offices in Lincoln, NE, Omaha, NE, or Pennington, NJ, although we are open to considering other locations for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a design team, including hiring your first team member.
• Lead product design for Travefy, enhancing the established product.
• Develop and implement a design system to strengthen brand and messaging.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to lead solution discovery and design.
• Own your workstream, maximizing autonomy and self-organization.
• Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure cohesive branding and messaging.

Requirements

• Proven experience in visual design and solving challenging UX problems.
• Experience in hiring and managing other designers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small design team.
• Experience building simple, loved experiences within complex products.
• Ability to create and implement a design system.

• Familiarity with coding, which can aid in collaboration with engineers.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, small team environment.
