About the position

As a Lead Product Designer at SmartNews, you will play a crucial role in shaping the design and user experience of our US product. Your obsession with craft and innovative UX design will be key in driving high-level product strategy and vision that results in clear business impact. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, data scientists, and content specialists, to bring the design vision to life. Responsibilities

  • Define product & design strategy by driving overall holistic product strategy and vision in collaboration with design and product leadership.
  • Help identify and define specific high-impact initiatives based on data, research, and design strategy, leading to business impact.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions, resulting in impactful, user-centric solutions.
  • Be hands-on in creating user flows & journeys, design concepts, and prototypes that can be used to convey and validate ideas.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops for hypothesis creation and solution validation, fostering a stronger culture of design-focused experiments for validation.
  • Be responsible for shipping designs that meet product goals, enhance user satisfaction, and create business impact.
  • Work autonomously in a fast-paced organization, embracing change and dealing with ambiguity.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a product designer with a strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions.
  • Experience in driving product strategy and vision in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of user experience principles and design methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze data and research to inform design decisions.
  • Proficiency in design tools and software for creating user flows, prototypes, and design concepts.
