About the position

The Lead Product Manager (Cloud Dev Tooling) at LocalStack is a strategic and hands-on role focused on enhancing the developer platform for cloud application development. The position involves understanding the cloud development tooling ecosystem, analyzing market trends, and aligning product offerings with customer expectations. The Lead PM will collaborate with various teams, including Engineering, Data, and DevRel, to drive product innovation and ensure a seamless developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Co-own and drive the technical direction and roadmap of the LocalStack emulators and cloud platform.
• Help define a comprehensive picture of the existing landscape of cloud dev tooling and establish a strong understanding of how LocalStack fits into the picture.
• Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities and make informed product decisions.
• Perform technical spikes and develop simple technical PoCs and mockups to illustrate new functionalities.
• Proactively work with Engineering teams to align on product roadmap, prioritization, and timelines.
• Work closely with the Data team to collect metrics and derive insights related to product telemetry and usage patterns.
• Incorporate feedback mechanisms to systematically collect user sentiment and establish a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the DevRel team to highlight key value propositions and shape the product story for different user personas.
• Define and document a mid- and long-term vision for the product based on data-driven insights.
• Support in fostering a strong culture of innovation and reconciling high-level product vision with bottom-up innovation.
• Help define processes and success metrics for coordinated product launches and track success criteria for customer beta programs.
• Work with company leadership to identify new market opportunities and support in budgeting exercises.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in product management, preferably in software developer tooling or cloud platforms.
• Deep understanding of software product lifecycle and development processes.
• Strong experience with major cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and IaC frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CDK).
• Strong prior engineering experience, preferably as a Senior/Lead engineer at a dev tools product company.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills to analyze complex situations and determine practical solutions.
• Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and facilitating communication across departments.
• Empathy and user-centric mindset to understand user pain points and create valuable products.
