About the position

The Lead Product Manager - Technical is a pivotal role focused on developing and guiding product roadmaps to enhance MasterCard's platform offerings. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into actionable product features, ensuring a seamless customer experience while driving innovation and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop inspiring platform/product visions based on business needs and market opportunities.
  • Decompose business requirements into features and functions that drive the platform/product roadmap using the Working Backwards method.
  • Collaborate with Technical Program Managers, Developers, UX designers, and internal customers to define business requirements.
  • Collect and share user stories with engineering teams.
  • Act as the voice of the business customer and be accountable for platform services.
  • Own the working backwards document and vision for feature releases.
  • Identify gaps and charter new platform capabilities as required.
  • Utilize research, user studies, metrics, and competitive analysis to inform platform product needs.
  • Compare features for competitive review to inform prioritization within a platform product release.
  • Identify innovations or perform test and learn experiments to enhance platform product value.
  • Participate in customer research to inform platform product feature needs.
  • Contribute quarterly input for the platform product portfolio and roadmap.
  • Make trade-off decisions on platform product features.
  • Use runtime metrics as feedback to balance priorities against new feature requests.
  • Exhibit expertise within platform feature areas and coordinate with interdependent teams.
  • Digest business customer requirements and platform requirements for feature sets.
  • Monitor feature development and review product demos against acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare launches and monitor platform performance, adoption, and operational health for feature sets.
  • Align with GTM plans for feature sets and identify issues that may delay delivery.
  • Support post-launch reviews and ensure feedback is reincorporated into features.
  • Work with internal teams to identify, classify, and prioritize customer issues at the feature level.
  • Develop and implement new metrics and work with development teams to create monitoring reports.
  • Identify and research anomalous performance and escalate findings to senior management.
  • Coordinate internal forums to identify feature-level development opportunities.
  • Manage product documentation and enable self-service support.
  • Identify feature risks from business and customer feedback and share with senior leadership.
  • Establish a network within the organization and begin building internal and external networks.
  • Mentor team members.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in product development or engineering.
  • Ability to read code (Java) and collaborate with designers and architects.
  • Demonstrated experience in building organizational relationships and influencing teams.
  • Sound technical and business judgment.
  • Experience with AI/ML, Distributed Systems, and Microservices is a plus.
  • BS/MBA in a related discipline.
