The purpose of this position is to lead the production team in the most efficient manner within budget constraints and abiding by good manufacturing practices and safety regulations. The Production Lead has primary responsibility for effective operation of food processing and packaging equipment accomplished in a manner to enhance the overall performance of the plant. To meet this objective, this position manages the overall production processes to meet or exceed quality, safety, productivity, and cost standards. The position will provide guidance and leadership to develop a high performance team; one that is self-directed, motivated, innovative, dependent upon the contributions of every individual, and properly trained to meet the changing requirements of the operation. The Production Lead follows all food safety requirements in collaboration with Quality Assurance (QRMP), Sanitation, and other plant resources. They lead and/or assist others in conducting investigations to determine the cause of defects, monitor and are responsible for quality output, and take appropriate actions to ensure production is right the first time. This role validates and ensures quality control measures are accurate and in conformance with process flow, conducts quality audits, and monitors process batch analytical data for accuracy. Additionally, the Production Lead ensures that personal protective equipment is provided and used, enforces safety rules, and takes prompt corrective action when unsafe acts or conditions are identified. The position also involves assigning personnel, maximizing operational uptime, and managing the use of processing and packaging machinery and equipment. The Production Lead understands the process flow of processing and packaging operations and recommends improvements when necessary. They demonstrate the ability to operate packaging or processing equipment as necessary when demands are needed and lead projects in efforts of continuous improvement. Furthermore, they manage and generate daily crewing for optimum performance, including but not limited to daily crewing, hours, and overtime avoidance. The role requires operating equipment in a safe manner following GMP guidelines and keeping the work area clean. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the creation of a culture of safety and health by performing work safely in accordance with all company safety procedures, operating equipment safely, and reporting any unsafe work conditions or practices to the supervisor. Occupational safety and health performance is measured in this position, with a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity being paramount.
