About the position

The Production Lead at FedEx Supply Chain plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the facility, working closely with Operations Supervisors to ensure that workload activities are efficiently managed and executed. This position requires proficiency in multiple areas of production, as the Production Lead is responsible for monitoring the progress of assigned tasks, tracking productivity, and directing the flow of processes. The Production Lead sets a standard for the department, leading by example and actively guiding the repack teammates to achieve operational excellence. In this role, the Production Lead coordinates and monitors daily workload activities, which includes tracking productivity and ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and on time. This involves reviewing and assigning daily workloads, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring that order quality meets the company's standards. The Production Lead must evaluate workloads and team resources effectively, communicating any changing requirements to management to adjust workflows and assignments as necessary. Safety and compliance are paramount in this position. The Production Lead is responsible for monitoring the operation of all equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining a clean and secure working environment. Additionally, the Production Lead plays a key role in training new production floor personnel, from Assemblers to Line Leaders, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Continuous improvement is a core focus, and the Production Lead coaches Line Leaders on lean production practices to meet or exceed production goals. The role also involves reviewing line reconciliation paperwork for accuracy, providing feedback and training to Line Leaders, and keeping the Production Supervisor informed of any potential issues. The Production Lead coordinates the tear-down and set-up of production lines as instructed and assists with onboarding new associates, ensuring that all team members are well-prepared to contribute to the team's success. Overall, the Production Lead is integral to fostering a productive and efficient work environment, driving performance, and ensuring that all operational goals are met.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and monitors daily workload activities including productivity tracking.
  • Reviews, assigns, and completes daily workloads while maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Evaluates workloads and team resources, communicating changing requirements to management.
  • Monitors equipment operation, safety, security, and housekeeping of the area.
  • Responsible for initial training of production floor personnel according to SOP guidelines.
  • Fosters continuous improvement on the production floor.
  • Coaches Line Leaders on efficient use of lean production practices to meet production goals.
  • Utilizes and assigns personnel to ensure maximum efficiency and attainment of production standards.
  • Reviews line reconciliation paperwork for accuracy and provides feedback to Line Leaders.
  • Coordinates tear-down and set-up of lines as instructed by the Production Supervisor.
  • Conducts and monitors employee training and assists Supervisors with onboarding new associates.
  • Assists with monitoring productivity status and reports.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a production or warehouse environment.
  • Experience with Excel, including spreadsheets and formulas, and Outlook email is required.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems is required.
  • Lean manufacturing and 5S experience is helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Customer service driven with a strong team player mentality.
