About the position

The Lead Program Case Coordinator I or II at the Oklahoma State Department of Health is responsible for providing case management services for the Oklahoma Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. This role involves conducting environmental investigations, educating families about lead exposure, and linking them to necessary resources. The coordinator will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to promote lead screening and prevention efforts, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and conduct in-home environmental investigations for children with elevated blood lead levels.
  • Collect samples for analysis to determine lead content and source of exposure.
  • Prepare written reports based on laboratory results documenting sources of lead found and recommendations for reducing exposure.
  • Maintain client records by entering data into the Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Surveillance Systems (HHLPSS).
  • Assist in assessing, reporting, and recording health status and follow-up related to lead exposure.
  • Link patients' families to culturally appropriate and community-based resources.
  • Develop and implement plans of care related to lead exposure removal, nutrition, and hygiene.
  • Complete intake assessment questionnaires for environmental investigations.
  • Send quarterly activity reports of lead-based paint activities to the Department of Environmental Quality.
  • Teach basic lead risk identification and follow-up skills to other staff through demonstrations and presentations.
  • Conduct presentations about the program's mission and goals to community and professional groups.
  • Participate in writing grant applications and reports.
  • Expand job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional networking.
  • Obtain certification as a Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector within one year of employment.
  • Improve case management services by evaluating and redesigning processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in lead, asbestos, environmental remediation work, construction, or related fields for Level I.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in lead, asbestos, environmental remediation work, construction, or a related field for Level II.
  • Certification as a Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector by the Department of Environmental Quality for Level II.

Nice-to-haves

  • Spanish speaking skills.
  • Previous experience with investigations and report writing.
