About the position

The Lead, Program Finance is responsible for managing and directing the budget control of large and complex programs. This role involves preparing budgets, conducting financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with government cost control guidelines. The position requires a subject matter expert who can manage significant project initiatives with minimal oversight, communicate effectively across the organization, and implement operational plans that impact business results.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, prepare, administer, and direct the control of the budget for large and complex programs.
  • Perform analyses and prepare reports to ensure contracts are within negotiated parameters and government cost control guidelines.
  • Prepare budgets and schedules for contract work and assist in financial analyses such as funding profiles and variance analysis.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and interpret proposal estimating, pricing, and documentation requirements.
  • Review and approve recommendations for financial planning and control.
  • Monitor program adherence to approved budget.
  • Prepare detailed program team budgets and update projections for monthly sales, operating income, and cash receipt forecasts.
  • Maintain timely and accurate Estimates at Completion (EACs) for assigned programs.
  • Prepare variance analysis in support of program management for internal reviews.
  • Analyze and report Earned Value Management data.
  • Generate monthly project billings and provide financial support for audits.
  • Identify and develop process improvements to streamline reporting and improve efficiency.
  • Develop detailed, accurate manufacturing and material cost estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) principles.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management and related tools (e.g., COBRA).
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and in a team environment.
  • Understanding of risk management and management by fact.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to interface with customers and program leaders.
  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with an ERP and Earned Value tool, preferably SAP and Cobra.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical skills for proactive problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills (oral, written, listening).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of Earned Value experience.
