About the position

The Lead Program Manager for Government Technology Projects at Honeywell is responsible for overseeing moderately to significantly complex program management functions for key engineering programs and projects, as well as strategic business process development and execution. This role acts as the primary point of contact for program negotiation, management, budgetary responsibilities, and the delivery of engineering programs or strategic business processes. The Lead Program Manager may lead a matrix team to manage and execute one or more key weapon and/or product/service programs, and may also be assigned to lead strategic business development and execution efforts across the organization and at the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) level. The position requires ensuring that integrated project management processes are aligned with industry best practices and consistently applied across the business. In this role, the Lead Program Manager will negotiate, evaluate, determine, and execute program project management activities to manage one or more significant, complex programs or components. They will lead, direct, influence, and utilize extensive technical knowledge and expertise to identify and mitigate program risks, as well as evaluate and resolve significant technical issues pertinent to key complex programs and supporting projects. The Lead Program Manager will also establish achievable cost and schedule parameters for key and complex weapons programs and/or reimbursable product/service programs, while leading multiple aspects of financial planning, monitoring, reporting, scheduling, analysis, and preparation of technical/schedule information required for complex program/project planning. The position involves acting as the primary liaison with various stakeholders, including the Department of Energy, design agencies, laboratories, integrated contractors, and other government agencies for key complex weapon programs and business process development/execution programs. The Lead Program Manager will integrate customer needs with business competencies to drive growth in both existing and emerging markets, participate in strategic planning, and lead teams to manage day-to-day program requirements. They will also provide oversight and execution of ongoing Program Excellence and Excellence in Project Management initiatives, ensuring that the right projects are prioritized and managed to successful completion. This role may also involve leading KCNSC and/or NSE-wide programs to standardize and execute best business processes, as well as developing and providing leadership for business training and development across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, evaluate, determine, and execute program project management activities for significant, complex programs.
  • Lead, direct, and influence technical knowledge to identify and mitigate program risks.
  • Establish achievable cost and schedule parameters for key weapons programs and reimbursable product/service programs.
  • Lead financial planning, monitoring, reporting, scheduling, and analysis for complex program/project planning.
  • Act as the primary liaison with the Department of Energy and other government agencies for key complex weapon programs.

  • Participate in strategic planning and lead teams to manage day-to-day program requirements.
  • Provide oversight and execution of Program Excellence and Excellence in Project Management initiatives.
  • Guide and mentor Deputy & Associate Program Managers and other program support staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience in key engineering, manufacturing, and/or program/project management roles.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management.
  • United States Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering is preferred.
  • Master's degree in Business or Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience leading matrixed and multi-disciplinary complex teams and assignments.
  • Technical understanding of weapon systems and component functions preferred.
  • Understanding of the NSE weapons acquisition and product realization process preferred.
  • Expertise in estimation methods, critical path analysis, and contemporary program management trends and practices.
  • Expertise in integrating multiple, complex business and technical/engineering processes.
