About the position

The Lead Program Manager - IT at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is responsible for driving multiple complex and cross-functional projects within the OIT Enterprise PMO. This role involves leading large, distributed teams, managing program life cycles, and ensuring alignment with program goals through collaboration with senior staff and stakeholders. The position requires advanced knowledge of project management best practices and PMO standards, as well as the ability to engage and manage project teams effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead program leadership team and key stakeholders through program initiation to define program charter and perform stakeholder analysis.
  • Drive the program planning stage and facilitate team collaboration to identify requirements and develop a comprehensive program plan.
  • Facilitate team collaboration to develop a change management plan based on process analysis and training needs for stakeholders.
  • Manage program risks and create risk response strategies, including escalation and mitigation plans.
  • Monitor program budget and activities throughout the program life cycle to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Provide and communicate program status updates to senior leadership and stakeholders to maintain a shared vision of the program outcome.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and provide project management consulting to the organization.
  • Coach and mentor partners and peers in project management best practices and advocate for PMO standards.
  • Collaborate to develop and implement key processes to mature the Project Management Office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Seven plus (7+) years of experience in leading projects or programs.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Experience with writing and reviewing SOW, RFI, and RFP.

Nice-to-haves

  • CSM certification
  • Experience with Change Management, resource capacity, and incident management.
  • Experience with contract negotiation, vendor evaluation, and managing contractor resources.
  • Experience in setting up standards and best practices for project management methodologies.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring partners and peers in project management best practices.
  • Experience using Project Management tools such as MS Project, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with strategic program portfolio planning.
