About the position

The Lead, Program Manager at Best Buddies International is responsible for driving the organization's mission forward by engaging with communities through Friendship and Leadership Development Programs. This role focuses on recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers while fostering inclusive environments for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Program Manager collaborates with chapter and community leadership to enhance volunteer experiences and establish strategic partnerships to further the organization's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate leadership trainings specific to volunteer roles, focusing on engagement and mission advancement.
  • Recruit and manage volunteer committees to implement trainings and manage chapters.
  • Evaluate and track chapter engagement in Best Buddies trainings, providing certification and ongoing training opportunities.
  • Develop and lead community trainings to promote awareness and engagement in Best Buddies mission.
  • Message expectations for participation in state events and programmatic initiatives.
  • Use program analysis to develop support plans and strategic designs for key volunteers.
  • Ensure participation from all chapters in the Annual Best Buddies Leadership Conference and the state's Friendship Walk.
  • Oversee state citizen matches and support/cultivate corporate chapters.
  • Plan and implement community trainings to promote awareness of Best Buddies mission.
  • Support adolescents/young adults transitioning from school to the workforce, engaging with families and employers.
  • Facilitate educational and vocational groups to develop social and workplace competency skills.
  • Assist in identifying and developing fundraising opportunities and partnerships.
  • Assist in planning and executing regional events and partnerships as directed by the State/Area Director.
  • Research social media content opportunities and manage local chapter social media accounts.
  • Represent Best Buddies programs through public speaking and community involvement.
  • Maintain compliance with Best Buddies policies and procedures, ensuring data integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3-4 years relevant experience in volunteer and committee management; Best Buddies program experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing and motivating volunteers.
  • Comfortable engaging with individuals with IDD, including youth and adults.
  • Adaptable with the ability to develop and balance multiple relationships.
  • Basic project and time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to influence and convey messages effectively.
  • Ability to enhance processes and resolve operational issues.
  • Strong initiative, drive for results, and self-assessment skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in multiple communication platforms and social media.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Access to an automobile with applicable insurance or reliable transportation.
