About the position

The position involves coordinating programming activities in the tube bend department at Polaris Inc. The role focuses on identifying opportunities for automation, developing necessary skills for bend automation, and optimizing the utilization of automation in collaboration with scheduling and engineering teams. The individual will lead a team of programmers, ensuring compliance with production schedules while maintaining safety, quality, and cost standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates activities to produce specified products within safety, quality, and cost standards.
  • Leads a team of programmers to support and advance production, ensuring schedule compliance.
  • Leads programming team in the Weld department and plans installation of welding equipment.
  • Programs robotic equipment including PLCs, Fanuc, Omron, and Motoman.
  • Implements and maintains machine time as designed by manufacturing engineers.
  • Conducts feasibility studies to ensure recommended improvements meet objectives.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings.
  • Builds relationships with equipment suppliers to maximize equipment capability.
  • Works directly with controls and maintenance teams.
  • Maintains proper documentation for PLC logic, electrical and control procedures, and standards.
  • Supports daily robot programming, troubleshooting, and file backups of updated processes.
  • Troubleshoots robotic systems and supports maintenance with circuit analysis and mechanics.
  • Works with maintenance team to maintain and update spare parts strategy and PM frequency.
  • Responsible for shutdown/start up procedures for robotic equipment.
  • Participates in quality review and root cause analysis.
  • Follows validation plan for process changes.
  • Participates in leading tooling AM/PM programs.
  • Develops and updates process documentation and procedure instruction.
  • Conducts direct machine/labor studies and establishes standards on operations and layout.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing Engineers/tool designers to specify or procure new tooling and fixtures.

Requirements

  • 1 year of continuous service from Polaris hire date.
  • 6 months between department transfers or promotions.
  • No active corrective actions.
  • 3 or fewer attendance occurrences in each attendance category.
  • Must have received a 'Meets Expectation' in the most recent performance review, if applicable.
  • Ability to set-up and precisely position large scale hardware.
  • Ability to troubleshoot program and/or machine issues.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work within a team environment or independently.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • PLC knowledge/experience preferred.
  • Successful technical leadership on major controls and automation projects.
