About the position

The Lead Project Engineer/Solutions Architect (LPE) is responsible for designing and overseeing technical solutions, focusing on flight simulation systems and architectures. This role involves providing technical leadership, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines throughout the design and development life cycle. The LPE will lead a team in delivering multiple Sikorsky FTDs while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes requirements and applies standard engineering methodologies to design technical solutions.
  • Leads team to produce specifications, design documents, and architecture diagrams.
  • Leads technical discussions, presenting proposals, and providing recommendations to senior management.
  • Provides guidance and technical leadership to development teams during implementation.
  • Manages and mentors junior architects and technical staff.
  • Collaborates with cybersecurity personnel to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Reviews existing systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Researches and evaluates emerging technologies for potential impact on solutions.
  • Provides input to the Project Manager regarding technical decisions and risks.
  • Works as a member of a project team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in hardware/software development and delivery; 15+ years preferred.
  • Experience with unit testing, system testing, and acceptance testing.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and hardware/software engineering design patterns.
  • Experience with hardware/software interfaces and configuration management tools.
  • Flight simulation experience required, rotary preferred.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects and operate in a high-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with COTS or custom components integration.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and compliance.
