About the position

The Lead, Project Engineering - IRAD position at L3Harris Technologies is responsible for managing the engineering Internal Research and Development (IRAD) portfolio. This role involves providing strategic technical leadership, ensuring alignment with long-term product development goals, and coordinating with various stakeholders to develop and update mission and product roadmaps. The successful candidate will focus on both near- and long-term objectives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the engineering Internal Research and Development (IRAD) portfolio using best practice processes and tools.
  • Assist divisions in meeting long-term product development goals for profitable growth.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership of the IRAD portfolio and establish a monthly review cadence to track milestones and manage program dependencies.
  • Coordinate with the Maritime Sector Strategy lead and division Chief Engineers to develop and update mission and product roadmaps.
  • Promote innovative methodologies to solve business issues in an agile manner.
  • Review each IRAD project's execution plans (Technical, Cost, and Schedule) and milestones with the Engineering Leadership Team.
  • Coordinate forecasts with the Maritime Sector finance team and provide monthly updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 9 years applicable experience in a product development role, OR a Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active US DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
  • 9 years of applicable experience in a product development role, with DoD experience required.
  • Experience leading engineering integrated product teams.
