About the position

The Lead Project Manager will oversee a portfolio of complex gas projects within the Gas Complex Project Management department at National Grid. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers in the New England territory, managing projects from inception through construction and closeout while adhering to budget and schedule constraints. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a focus on driving efficiencies and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a large portfolio of multiple gas complex capital projects, up to approximately $75MM USD, from inception through construction and closeout.
  • Oversee gas distribution and transmission pipeline projects, including new facilities, major additions, replacements, and retrofit projects.
  • Drive efficiencies for on-schedule and on-budget delivery in alignment with company values, safety objectives, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate accounting, cost, forecast, and construction functions related to project completion.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to provide project updates and drive projects to completion.
  • Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contracts, and related documents.
  • Negotiate and execute contracts and change orders with design teams, contractors, and others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, MBA, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in project management, construction management, or relevant utility operations.
  • Proven experience in direct project development and design, including milestone management and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in presentations and public speaking, especially geared toward executive leadership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer's (PE) license preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $139,000 - $163,000.
