About the position

The Lead QA Automation Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products for our financial client. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in software testing, particularly in automation and performance testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing automation solutions that adhere to organizational standards, creating reliable and maintainable automated regression suites and test harnesses. The role involves collaborating closely with development teams to deliver business functionality on time while meeting the required quality standards and acceptance criteria. In this position, the Lead QA Automation Engineer will act as a test lead, guiding and mentoring project staff while also contributing as an individual contributor. The engineer will be expected to review and approve the work of team members, ensuring that best practices are followed and that testing activities remain on schedule. The role will also involve building efficient solutions for web, services/APIs, and database testing requirements, as well as participating in various project meetings, including project scoping, functional reviews, and technical reviews in an Agile environment. The engineer will be responsible for capturing quality assurance data and metrics to provide insights and conclusions, estimating and performing risk analysis for quality delivery, and actively participating in functional, system, and regression testing activities. This position requires a strong understanding of QA methodologies and best practices, as well as the ability to design and execute test plans for ETL to ELT processes, ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the testing lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automation/performance solutions that meet organization standards and build reliable, reusable, and maintainable automated regression suites & test harnesses.
• Create tools and frameworks with quality code to simplify testing scenarios.
• Design and develop test plans, and test cases based upon functional and design specifications, execute test cases and analyze and report test results to the teams.
• Work in partnership with the development teams to deliver business functionality on time with required quality that meets the acceptance criteria.
• Act as a test lead, working well as an individual contributor and leading the team by example.
• Use strong testing skills to provide guidance and assist project staff.
• Review and approve the work of project team members in the writing of scripts, expected results, test results, and defect descriptions. Ensures best practices are followed and testing activities stay on schedule.
• Focus on building efficient solutions for Web, Services/APIs, and Database testing requirements.
• Participate in internal/cross-team meetings, project scoping, functional reviews, test specifications, and technical reviews for assigned projects in an Agile environment.
• Involved in requirements review and participate in architecture/design reviews with an emphasis on test automation/performance strategy and ensuring best practices.
• Participate actively in functional, system, and regression testing activities.
• Capture quality assurance data and metrics to provide insights and conclusions.
• Estimate and perform risk analysis for quality delivery.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software testing experience in all testing phases including test planning, test execution, and test closure for all layer API, DB, and UI.
• Excellent understanding of QA and testing methodologies, best practices.
• 5+ years of experience as an Automation QA Tester.
• 5+ years of experience creating/maintaining and executing automation tests utilizing tools such as Selenium required (Python essential). Tosca knowledge would be an added advantage.
• 5+ years of experience in Agile processes (Scrum preferred).
• 3+ years of experience working with REST service and understanding of SOA architecture. Knowledge of OData and SOAP preferred.
• Experience creating/maintaining automation frameworks preferred.
• Experience with DevOps pipeline in containerized environment using Azure DevOps/Jenkins preferred.
• Expertise using complex SQL to query databases required.
• Expertise with DB process, data validation, transformation logic, and data migration.
• Knowledge of file storage in S3, data validation with CLOB, BLOB, and messaging system Kafka, JMS preferred.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity by designing and executing test plans for ETL to ELT processes.
• Develop automated testing scripts and monitor performance to optimize ETL/ELT workflows.
• Exposure to distributed source control systems such as Git.
• Experience with test data management techniques.
• Knowledge of Function as a Service, Container as a Service, and Data Virtualization (Denodo) preferred.
• Experience with change management and defect tracking tools.
• Well-versed with Defect Triage process and identification, and tracking of corrective actions.
• Zeal to be a domain expert and learn new technologies.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and written communication.
• High standards of confidentiality; ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and trust.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS/Azure and experience in testing micro-services, and containers (Docker is preferred).
