About the position

The Lead Quality Assurance Engineer at Apex Systems is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in software products for a Fortune 200 company based in Cleveland, Ohio. This position requires a systematic approach to testing, leading the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards. The incumbent will be tasked with creating, modifying, and executing comprehensive software test plans, as well as developing automated scripts and programs to facilitate effective testing processes. This role is essential in driving quality assurance initiatives and ensuring that all products meet the established quality benchmarks before they are released to the market. In this position, the Lead QA Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders, to identify testing requirements and ensure that all aspects of the software are thoroughly tested. The role demands a strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to address any issues that arise during the testing phase. The Lead QA Engineer will also be responsible for mentoring junior QA engineers, providing guidance on best practices in quality assurance and testing methodologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software testing standards, policies, methodologies, tools, and processes. They will be expected to stay updated with the latest trends in quality assurance and implement innovative testing strategies to enhance the overall quality of the software products. This position is a direct hire opportunity and requires the candidate to work onsite three days a week in Cleveland, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of software test plans.
  • Create and modify automated testing scripts and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards for software products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify testing requirements.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues found during testing phases.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in quality assurance and testing methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or at least 12 years of experience in quality assurance engineering or software testing in lieu of a degree.
  • 6-8 years of experience in quality assurance engineering or software testing.
  • Extensive knowledge of software testing standards, policies, methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Selenium WebDriver.
  • Experience with REST-assured.
