About the position

At Schwab, we are looking for a Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our Identity Engineering team within Cyber Security. This team is responsible for supporting Authorization and Authentication services for workforce members across the organization, which are critical to our operations and risk control posture. As a Lead QA Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our applications and services meet or exceed both functional and non-functional requirements. This position requires a blend of organizational skills and hands-on experience with both manual and automated test frameworks. You will be instrumental in promoting automation adoption within the team and providing your expertise to drive success in our testing efforts. In this role, you will lead the QA efforts, working closely with both onshore and offshore teams to design and execute comprehensive test scenarios and cases. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the development and execution of API, UI, Scheduled Jobs, and Database test scenarios, ensuring that our software is reliable and meets the highest quality standards. You will also be expected to mentor junior staff and collaborate effectively across multiple departments, communicating essential information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Your ability to anticipate future trends and challenges will be crucial in identifying and resolving unique testing needs, ultimately contributing to the integrity and reliability of our business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the QA team in designing and executing test scenarios for API, UI, Scheduled Jobs, and Database applications.
  • Promote automation adoption within the QA team and provide expertise in automated testing frameworks.
  • Oversee the development and execution of both manual and automated tests to ensure software quality.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and provide guidance on best practices in testing and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate testing results and quality metrics effectively.
  • Identify and resolve unique and substantial testing needs by anticipating future trends and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with Agile methodologies and utilize collaboration tools effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on QA engineering and testing experience with progressive responsibilities.
  • 5+ years of experience leading onshore and offshore test and/or development teams.
  • 5+ years of experience with QA Automation development toolset for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving software.
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and collaboration tools.

  • Advanced expertise in quality assurance testing activities for the designated business area.
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior staff or team members without direct personnel authority.
  • Strong communication skills to convey essential information across technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Testing Frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Cyber Security tools/applications, particularly Identity and Access Management (IAM) technologies.
