About the position

The position involves reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on Navy Federal's risk, quality, service, and controls to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks. The role includes conducting quality control reviews of loan documentation and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures. The individual will perform gap analyses to identify root causes of compliance failures and maintain data in the quality control system. Additionally, the position requires leading projects, mentoring lower-level analysts, and driving quality control program changes.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate underwriting decisions, process adherence, servicing standards, and regulatory requirements of mortgage loan files for compliance.
  • Review quality control findings for consistency and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Lead execution of quality control review efforts and advise management on training opportunities.
  • Assist management with workload management and compile complex reports and production statistics.
  • Create and assign quality control monthly audits with representative sampling.
  • Anticipate business challenges and recommend process enhancements.
  • Perform in-depth gap analyses to determine root causes of compliance failures.
  • Develop solutions for identified risks and maintain communication with business partners.
  • Optimize performance of real estate lending operations by analyzing current and future performance.
  • Ensure loan quality through data integrity and risk management.
  • Stay updated on changes in the mortgage industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the review of audit work and assist with workload management and report compilation.
  • Recognize potential misrepresentation and identify reporting channels.
  • Ensure software/systems meet regulatory requirements.
  • Align section goals with division strategy.
  • Monitor corrective actions for effective remediation.
  • Maintain organized documentation of transaction quality and deficiencies.
  • Train and mentor lower-level Quality Control Analysts.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of the mortgage industry and underwriting principles.
  • Expert knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA guidelines and relevant mortgage investor guidelines.
  • Expert knowledge of FCRA, HMDA, FACTA, TILA, RESPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Expert knowledge of operational and regulatory risk controls and practices.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience identifying analytical problems and solving complex issues.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize data for presentations and reports.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Effective customer service focus and relationship management skills.
  • Expert skills in innovative problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Expert skills in interpreting and applying relevant data to guidelines and regulations.
  • Expert skills in presenting findings and collaborating with all levels of employees.

  • Proficient in word processing, presentation software, and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Auditing, or related field.
