About the position

The Lead Quality Systems Metallurgical Engineer at Arconic Corporation is responsible for providing technical support to manufacturing areas, laboratories, and product lines. This role focuses on quality systems, metallurgical practices, product and process improvement, and customer technical service. The engineer will lead initiatives to ensure product integrity and compliance with quality management systems while supporting various metallurgical processes critical to the company's operations.

Responsibilities

• Support Davenport Work's EHS policies and programs by staying current on required training and enforcing safe work practices.
• Interface and collaborate with technologists at the Technical Center.
• Communicate with customers regarding product opportunities, claims, and field service support.
• Understand and apply Arconic Business Systems (ABS) principles to solve problems and deploy solutions.
• Lead technical and quality system activities within a manufacturing or product area.
• Ensure quality systems are performing correctly and react to exceptions impacting product integrity.
• Maintain knowledge of metallurgical processing and customer requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering or materials science from an accredited institution, or related field.
• Minimum of six (6) years of metallurgical experience working with metals.
• Experience in coil or sheet finish, rolling, extrusion, or forging.
• Broad understanding of finishing operations and interactions with product criteria for coil and sheet.
• Ability to lead multi-function teams for problem solving and continual improvement.
• Knowledge of industry standards for mechanical testing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication.

Nice-to-haves

• 10+ years manufacturing quality experience.
• Experience in industrial, aerospace, and automotive processes and/or products.
• Knowledge of finishing operations for raw material processes.
• Knowledge of quality system standards such as ISO9001, IATF16949, AS9100.
