The Lead Quality Technician at Tesla is a pivotal role that requires a proactive approach to quality assurance within the manufacturing environment of Gigafactory New York. This position serves as the first point of contact for quality issues on the designated manufacturing line, necessitating collaboration with various teams including Engineering, Production, and Suppliers. The Lead Quality Technician is responsible for identifying and addressing corrective actions during the production process, thereby enhancing the overall quality of Tesla's products and minimizing field issues. In this role, you will be tasked with training, coordinating, and delegating activities among Quality Technicians. You will lead group discussions and provide guidance to ensure that quality metrics and performance standards are met. This includes working closely with manufacturing and process teams to establish and maintain processes that guarantee high-quality outputs. You will also be responsible for maintaining and updating product and quality plans, as well as collaborating with the Quality Supervisor and Engineers to review audit results and drive corrective actions across cross-functional teams. Additionally, the Lead Quality Technician will revise Quality Key Points (QKP) documents and Quality Instructions, implement and analyze data collection spreadsheets, and maintain Quality Technician Standard Work documents. You will assist in identifying and resolving manufacturing quality issues, which may involve sorting parts for quality requirements and analyzing high failure product data. Your ability to communicate effectively with leadership and management regarding common issues and defects will be crucial in assisting with solutions and preventing future quality defects based on data metrics.
