About the position

The Lead R&D Software Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the integration and configuration of software and hardware for high-frequency tactical sonar systems. This role involves providing technical mentorship to junior engineers and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to meet project deadlines. The engineer will also develop and maintain automated software tools, troubleshoot issues, and document their work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to coordinate integration and configuration of software and hardware for tactical sonar systems.
  • Provide technical mentorship and supervision to junior engineers.
  • Work and communicate with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to meet project deadlines and milestones.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain automated software tools to ensure reproducibility of the final product.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues observed in ARL developed sonar systems.
  • Document and present work performed.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in software and hardware integration for engineering projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in software and hardware systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary team environment.
  • Experience in developing automated software tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with sonar systems or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with high-frequency tactical systems.
