About the position

The Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) at Houston Methodist Hospital plays a crucial role in overseeing respiratory care services during assigned shifts. The Lead RCP acts as a liaison among management, staff, and physicians, facilitating communication and problem resolution to enhance patient outcomes and service quality.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing work schedules and assigning tasks to staff.
  • Reviewing time cards for accuracy and conducting quality assurance audits.
  • Developing and implementing quality improvement activities.
  • Training and mentoring staff, providing feedback on performance.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on departmental performance data.
  • Preparing reports on department performance and metrics.
  • Serving as the primary resource for staff and facilitating teamwork.
  • Monitoring and adjusting team activities for optimal patient throughput.
  • Conducting quality audits on equipment and processes.
  • Assisting with the development of policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved education program for Respiratory Care.
  • Four years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, with two years in ICU, Neonatal, or ER settings preferred.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required.
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner certification required.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., RRT-ACCS, NPS) to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
