About the position

Life Flight Network is one of the most prominent not-for-profit air ambulance organizations, known for its commitment to safety, excellence, social justice, and innovation. As a Lead Revenue Cycle Analyst, you will play a crucial role in identifying areas of focus in billing through auditing and associated processes. This position involves providing team and technical supervision, acting as a liaison between Life Flight Network and Quick Med Claims, and ensuring that all revenue cycle activities are prioritized and executed on required timelines set forth by the Director of Revenue Cycle. You will be responsible for leading all activities in the revenue cycle, overseeing the day-to-day actions of revenue cycle analysts, and mentoring staff to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all job functions. In this role, you will review the daily activities of the revenue cycle analysts, provide recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiencies, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. You will also be tasked with analyzing accounts receivable, collection, reimbursement trends, and overall revenue cycle performance. Your ability to audit accounts for accurate billing and coding, maintain knowledge of federal and state insurance policies, and communicate with management and third-party billing agencies will be essential to your success. Additionally, you will be involved in establishing innovative technology solutions to promote efficiencies and reduce timelines, as well as summarizing data and interpreting findings into actionable reports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all activities in revenue cycle and oversee day-to-day actions of revenue cycle analysts.
  • Ensure all revenue cycle activities are prioritized and executed on required timelines set forth by the Director of Revenue Cycle.
  • Review day-to-day activities of the revenue cycle analysts and provide recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiencies in the department.
  • Effectively interact and communicate within all levels of the organization.
  • Provide various reports and analysis as agreed upon with the Director of Revenue Cycle.
  • Mentor and coordinate training of revenue cycle staff, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of all job functions.
  • Review performance improvement functions through data collection and documentation review and quality audits to ensure integrity of data.
  • Act as Account Administrator for Third Party Resources related to revenue cycle.
  • Assist in establishing innovative leveraging technology and/or automation to promote efficiencies that will reduce timelines.
  • Report to clinical leaders any patient accounts unable to be billed because of incomplete documentation.
  • Analyze A/R, collection, reimbursement trends and Revenue Cycle performance.
  • Audit accounts for accurate billing and coding.
  • Review and analyze issues involving insurance, billing, claims, reimbursement, and coding; recommending improvements and solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state and all third-party insurance policies, practices and procedures.
  • Communicate to management and third-party billing agency on the status of specific patient accounts and make recommendations regarding collection of accounts when necessary.
  • Audit allowance and write-off adjustments to control losses due to errors.
  • Complete or assist with special projects and assignments as requested.
  • Summarize data and information from multiple sources, interpreting findings into meaningful information and actionable reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, healthcare or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in medical billing.
  • Coding certification with AAPC, AHIMA, or NAAC preferred.
  • Experience working with electronic billing systems.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurers' billing processes and federal/state air ambulance guidelines and requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of HIPAA rules and compliance.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Proactive and self-directed with the ability to work with a team and autonomously.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
