About the position

The Lead RF Application Engineer at Ansys is a pivotal role within the Customer Excellence team, focusing on providing technical pre-sales support and consulting services to customers. This position requires advanced engineering knowledge to solve real-world engineering problems, deploy Ansys software in design workflows, and mentor junior engineers. The role involves leading project teams, guiding complex sales engagements, and collaborating with product development teams to enhance Ansys' offerings based on customer feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, including technical discovery and product presentations.
  • Guide complex sales engagements to successful outcomes using subject matter expertise.
  • Interact with customers to understand their business initiatives and engineering design workflows, articulating Ansys' value proposition.
  • Lead project teams to create simulation solutions using Ansys products and deploy them within customer workflows.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to guide the product roadmap and test new releases on industrial problems.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives to enhance technology and processes.
  • Support marketing efforts and author conference presentations.
  • Contribute to consulting services and conduct training classes.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum years of professional experience: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3 in an engineering software environment.
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages.
  • Subject matter expert in relevant disciplines within Ansys' business.
  • Understanding of engineering practices and product development, with experience in simulation technology.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional customer outcomes and revenue impact.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with a sense of urgency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred education and experience: BS+12, MS+10, or PhD+7 in an engineering software environment.
  • 4 years of experience in application engineering or customer support roles using engineering software.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.
