The Lead Scheduler is responsible for receiving and interviewing patients to collect and verify pertinent demographic, clinical, and financial data. This includes obtaining copies of relevant documents such as physician orders and the most recent insurance cards, verifying eligibility of insurance, and obtaining authorization for services as necessary. The Lead Scheduler collects required payments or makes necessary financial arrangements appropriate for the assigned work area. They perform order entry for tests as appropriate and prepare and distribute reports, documents, and Patient Identification items while providing patient education in accordance with Federal and State Regulations, Payer requirements, and Bradley Medical Center (BMC) Policies and Procedures. The Lead Scheduler assists in working reports and worklists to correct errors or identify and resolve missing information. They have a mastery of and routinely perform changes to patient scheduling status, including canceling and resuming appointments, and revising patient statuses. Additional duties are performed in a courteous and professional manner, and the Lead Scheduler is considered a Superuser on relevant departmental processes and systems applications. They act as a preceptor, assisting Department Leadership in training and orientation of new hires, internal cross-training, ongoing change management, and performance improvement training. The Lead Scheduler also assists the Department Manager/Supervisor in routine management tasks such as monthly schedule preparation and budget management, and may provide input to the Director on annual performance appraisals.
