About the position

The Lead Scrum Master at Magellan Health is a fully remote position focused on coaching and facilitating multiple IT teams through Agile practices. The role emphasizes driving change, supporting Agile transformations, and ensuring teams meet their sprint goals while fostering a collaborative and transparent environment. The Lead Scrum Master will manage high complexity work streams, oversee the scrum process, and partner with Product Managers to maintain a healthy backlog and deliver business value.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and facilitate multiple IT teams in Agile practices.
  • Capture and report metrics to track team progress.
  • Proactively eliminate barriers to team delivery.
  • Facilitate daily scrums, sprint planning, and sprint reviews.
  • Manage interdependencies between agile teams.
  • Support short and long-term release planning with Product Managers.
  • Conduct demand and capacity planning models.
  • Participate in project estimation sessions with stakeholders.
  • Track deliverables and maintain an IT forecasting roadmap.
  • Oversee scope, budget, timeline, quality, and deliverables.
  • Create a trustworthy team environment that emphasizes problem solving.
  • Protect scrum teams from outside interference during sprints.
  • Assess team maturity and coach teams to higher levels of maturity.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and delivery teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of related experience in IT engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Scrum Master in Agile software development.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile principles and concepts.
  • Advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in risk and change management.
  • Ability to work with distributed teams.
  • Experience with multiple software development teams applying Scrum principles.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach on Scrum/Agile processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • CSM - Certified Scrum Master certification.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
