About the position
The Lead Security Assistant position at the Lebanon VA Medical Center involves leading a team of Security Assistants responsible for monitoring physical security equipment and systems. The role includes overseeing operations, responding to alarms, and coordinating with law enforcement to ensure safety and security within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a team of Security Assistants in problem-solving methods and techniques.
- Monitor and respond to alarms and security systems.
- Trace access patterns and manage user permissions for security systems.
- Maintain communication with law enforcement and emergency services.
- Perform system checks and troubleshoot equipment issues in the dispatch center.
- Prepare reports related to security operations and incidents.
- Issue and retrieve government-issued keys and identification cards.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 level in security or law enforcement.
- Knowledge of security or law enforcement objectives and programs.
- Experience in overseeing and balancing the workload of staff.
- Ability to monitor and respond to physical alarm systems and security cameras.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with law enforcement communication equipment.
- Familiarity with the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC).
- Leadership experience in a security or law enforcement setting.
