About the position

The Lead Senior GL Accountant at Western Digital is a critical role responsible for managing the company's general ledger, particularly in areas such as derivatives and foreign currency activities. This position requires a highly motivated accounting professional who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring compliance with internal controls and supporting the month-end close and reconciliation processes. The role involves collaboration with various functions, including Treasury and Tax, to maintain accurate general ledger accounts and prepare audit schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and analyses for complex accounting areas such as derivatives and foreign currency matters.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and ensure timely clearance of outstanding items.
  • Partner with Treasury and Tax functions to provide guidance on accounting matters.
  • Support new business initiatives and implement relevant processes.
  • Assist the accounting team in the month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Prepare month-end close presentations and related reporting activities for Interest and Other Expense.
  • Establish formal monthly and quarterly fluctuation analysis for related accounts.
  • Develop and maintain an effective internal control environment.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements and implement approved measures.
  • Work with external auditors during quarterly, interim, and annual audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active CPA license preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a global publicly-traded company.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and proficiency with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Experience with global financial systems, preferably Oracle and SAP.
  • Experience with automated hedging solutions, preferably Hedge Trackers.
  • Extensive knowledge of analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Treasury experience is a plus.
