About the position

Our client within the gases and chemicals industry is seeking a Lead Senior Process Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, experience using Siemens PCS7, and additional experience with other controls platforms is a plus. This role is critical in developing process controls execution strategies in conjunction with the overall project development team, which includes both local and remote engineering centers. The engineer will participate in P&ID development and operability and hazard reviews, ensuring that all specifications of process control equipment are accurately authored, checked, or approved. This includes control valves, relief valves, flow measurement devices, process instrumentation, analytical systems, and DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems. In this position, the engineer will identify and manage process controls technical risk items while managing the functional project team's schedule, budget, and quality. This team may consist of a local in-house design team, a geographically remote engineering and design center, or an outside engineering EPC. The engineer will also review SIL assessments and author SIL verifications, participate in control system design reviews, and be responsible for the cyber security aspects of their scope of supply. This role requires a deep understanding of the design and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for process plants, making it essential for the candidate to demonstrate technical competence and leadership skills while communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process controls execution strategies in conjunction with overall project development team (both locally and with remote engineering centers)
  • Participate in P&ID development and Operability and Hazard Reviews
  • Author, check or approve specifications of process control equipment including control valves, relief valves, flow measurement devices, process instrumentation, analytical systems, and DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems
  • Identify and manage process controls technical risk items
  • Manage your functional project teams schedule, budget, and quality
  • Review SIL assessments and author SIL verifications
  • Participate in Control System Design reviews
  • Responsible for Cyber Security aspects of their scope of supply.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • At least 15 years of applicable work experience
  • Deep understanding of the design and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for process plants
  • Experience developing BPCS / SIS architectures, control applications, and hardware specifications using Siemens PCS7
  • Demonstrated technical competence and leadership skills
  • Effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with other controls platforms is a plus
