About the position

The Lead Service Craftsperson at Nabholz is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and executing construction projects across various settings, including commercial buildings, churches, factories, and office buildings. This position requires a blend of technical skills, leadership, and project management capabilities. The Lead Service Craftsperson will plan, supervise, and coordinate all aspects of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This includes managing a team of craftspeople, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, client satisfaction, and project quality. In this role, the Lead Service Craftsperson will be expected to keep safety as a top priority, adhering to all Nabholz and job-specific safety procedures. They will plan and supervise the job by determining construction methods, manpower levels, material quantities, and equipment needs. Effective communication with owners, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors is essential to ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules. The Lead Service Craftsperson will also be responsible for maintaining productive relationships with clients and assisting in resolving any construction-related issues that may arise. The job involves hands-on work, including setting up and operating woodworking tools, erecting or dismantling structures, installing wood and metal parts, and performing various construction tasks such as framing, drywall hanging, and concrete finishing. The Lead Service Craftsperson will also be involved in team-building activities and morale-boosting efforts among both office and field personnel. This position is classified as safety-sensitive, particularly concerning medical marijuana use, and requires adherence to all safety protocols and corporate values.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise all aspects of construction projects.
  • Manage crafts team members, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and standards.
  • Maintain liaison with owners, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in resolving construction problems as required.
  • Set up and operate woodworking tools for construction tasks.
  • Erect or dismantle structures and perform repairs.
  • Install wood and metal parts, including roofing and siding.
  • Perform framing, drywall hanging, and minor drywall finishing.
  • Conduct painting touch-ups and incidental painting after repairs.
  • Form, place, and finish concrete as needed.
  • Hang doors and install locks and hardware.
  • Cut, fit, and weld structural and miscellaneous steel.
  • Maintain shop equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Foster a cooperative work environment and team morale.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in construction or related duties.
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
  • Ability to manage project schedules and handle change orders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in noisy and extreme temperature environments.
  • Capability to fulfill required hand tools within 60 days of employment.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal hours and respond to emergencies.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills.
