About the position
The Lead Skilled Tradesman position at Thermo Fisher Scientific involves overseeing maintenance and repair operations within the facilities team during the 3rd shift. This role is crucial for ensuring that equipment and building systems operate efficiently and comply with regulatory standards. Responsibilities
- Work with various departments to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Complete emergency repairs as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems as established in department procedures and audits required by regulatory agencies.
- Utilize Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager to document on-demand and planned maintenance in a validated maintenance system.
- Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables.
- Monitor facilities equipment daily via BMS and troubleshoot problems.
- Coordinate the services of outside vendors when necessary.
- Identify existing and potential operational problems and inefficiencies and recommend resolutions.
- Assist in developing and maintaining required documentation including blueprints, plans, and permits according to company procedures and external requirements.
- Document daily facilities equipment operation and maintenance activities.
- Perform plant rounds and record readings on various systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; preference for a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Proven communications, customer service, and technical skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed and participate in planned manufacturing shutdown activities.
Nice-to-haves
- Technical certification in a mechanical and/or electrical trade.
- Prior experience repairing HVAC/refrigeration systems.
- Experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, steam boilers, water pre-treatment systems, refrigeration, chillers, building repairs, electrical generators, and transfer switchgears.
