About the position

The Lead Social Scientist will play a crucial role in the NC Wildlife Resources Commission's Office of Conservation Policy and Analysis. This position is responsible for informing and developing public policy and regulations related to wildlife management in North Carolina. The role involves engaging with agency constituents and the public to gather insights on natural resources and agency functions, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data to enhance agency programs and policies.

Responsibilities

• Engage with agency constituents and the public to gather perspectives on wildlife management and natural resources.
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform policy development and program evaluation.
• Develop and recommend statewide public policy and regulations for the agency.
• Examine current and future agency programs to improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure effective communication and understanding of agency functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social sciences, environmental science, or a related field.
• Experience in policy analysis, program evaluation, or social research.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience working with wildlife management or conservation policies.
